PROSPERITY — Mid-Carolina Middle School’s Junior Beta Club students captured 11 awards at the Junior Beta Club State Convention in Myrtle Beach held Jan. 23-25. This is the largest number of awards in Mid-Carolina Middle’s history.
Ninety-one Mid-Carolina Middle School Junior Beta Club members and 10 Mid-Carolina Middle faculty members attended the state convention. All of the students represented Mid-Carolina Middle well.
Students competed in just about every category at the state convention. More than 3,800 students from across the state attended convention.
Mid-Carolina Middle’s Grant Mays came away as the new state president of the S.C. Junior Beta Club and he was also awarded first place in campaign speech competition.
Other junior beta winners were Reid Brigman, first place in social studies competition; Erin Werts, first place in black and white photography and second place in digitally enhanced photography; Rachel Shealy, second place in quilting; Anna Lominick, second place in watercolor; Taylor Martin, third place in sculpture; Catherine Taylor, third place in speech; Callie Blanchard, Griff Bowers, Rachel Richardson, Charlsy Traylor, Cameron Stutts and Preston Farmer, third place in group talent.
Mid-Carolina Middle also won first place in the arts and crafts sweepstakes which means that the school had the most students to win awards in the arts and crafts category than any competing school.
