ROCK HILL — Newberry College senior Brittany Phillips has been named to the preseason All-South Atlantic Conference second team as a utility player, the league office announced Wednesday. The preseason coaches’ poll has also been released, with the Wolves predicted to finish 10th in the conference.
Phillips is Newberry’s leading returning regular on the softball team after playing in every game last season. She hit .342 with a team-high 51 hits in 149 at bats in her first season in the Scarlet and Gray. She scored a team-high 29 runs and had a .372 on-base percentage, striking out only six times on the entire season.
