WHITMIRE — Whitmire defeated Christ Church but took a loss to Mid-Carolina on Monday. Mid-Carolina also defeated Christ Church.

The first match of the night was Whitmire versus Mid-Carolina. MC claimed the team win by three points but Whitmire defeated MC in five of eight head-to-head matches, said Whitmire Coach Jarrod King.

The second match was MC versus Christ Church and the Rebels won.

The third match of the evening was Whitmire taking on CCES.

“In a rare change of events for Whitmire, we found ourselves outnumbering our opponent nine weight classes to four. We would have won by forfeits alone but our guys got out on the mat and took care of business winning three out of four in head-to-head competition,” said King.

“This was a good end to our regular season,” King added. “We improved our performance against Mid-Carolina and picked up our ninth team win of the season. Our small, young team gives it all they’ve got. I can’t tell you how many times this season we’ve been told by opposing coaches that they were thankful we were not filling a full roster. We are optimistic as we head into the postseason and prepare for the S.C.Upperstate Individual Tournament which will be held at Liberty High School on Feb. 15 and 16.”

Whitmire defeated Christ Church Episcopal School by a final score of 45-5. The matches were as follows:
