NEWBERRY — Members of the Newberry County Chamber of Commerce enjoyed food, drinks and entertainment at their annual meeting held Tuesday night at the Newberry Opera House.
The only business was a quick election of new board members. Dr. Holiday The Hilarious Hypnotist provided the entertainment.
Board chairman Jimmie Coggins is rotating off the board this year along with members David Senn and David Fisher while Cathy Cain, Sean Pomeroy and George Routon will start terms on the 12-member board. Each board member serves a four-year term.
Newberry Electric Cooperative CEO Keith Avery is the new chairman of the board.
Also, Kraft Food’s Glenda O’Brien resigned from the board due to a job relocation. Her unexpired term will be filled by Joyce Vigus.
Holiday told the crowd that hypnosis combines relaxation and imagining while a person is in a dream-like state. He added that hypnosis gives a person greater freedom, wealth, health and happiness. After telling the audience about his career, Holiday asked for volunteers to come on stage to experience the therapy.
