NEWBERRY —A free opera concert will showcase the talent of Newberry College students and faculty on Friday, Jan. 25 at the college’s music department.

Newberry College department of music will host an free opera gala concert in the West Memorial Recital Hall of the Alumni Music Center at 8 p.m.

Vocal professors, Dr. Allyss Haecker and Dr. Chris Sheppard, as well as vocal music students will present at the concert. They will be accompanied by piano professor, Dr. Laurel Larsen.

“Our opera gala will showcase the multiple talents of our music majors in an elegant evening of music for all. We hope you will join us for an evening of opera favorites as we also plan to recognize our donors of the past year at the concert,” said Dr. Victor Vallo, chair of the department of music.

The concert will feature scenes by Mozart, Puccini, Verdi, Bizet and Gilbert and Sullivan, so there is bound to be something for everyone. There will be a reception following the concert.

Friends of Music donations will be accepted for needs of the department of music.

The concert is free and open to the public.
