NEWBERRY — Three local authors will discuss their recently published books at the Hal Kohn Memorial Library on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 3 p.m.

Kevin Boozer, Ollie Moye and Robert E. Summer will share with the audience the stories behind their books and their motivations for writing them.

Boozer’s book, “Scar, the Helpful Wolf,” is a children’s book, but of interest to all ages, featuring the Newberry College mascot, Scar. In his book, the helpful wolf guides the family of a prospective student around the Newberry College campus. Boozer, a 2010 alumnus of the college, has been writing children’s stories for over 10 years and has been published in “Little Lutheran.” He is a staff writer for Civitas Media, which owns The Observer.

Moye’s book, “North to Prosperity,” is a murder mystery, which has been receiving highly favorable reviews from readers. The book has a Lake Murray setting and includes fictional characters from Newberry and Lexington Counties. Moye is a veteran journalist and well known as a former editor of the Newberry Observer and president of the South Carolina Press Association. He also wrote “Daddy, Tell Them We Don’t Shoot Bambi.”

Summer is best known as the publisher of the magazine “Newberry, the lifestyle magazine of Newberry County,” each issue of which is anticipated by local residents. His recently published book is titled “Newberry, South Carolina, Homes and Gardens.” Filled with outstanding photography, it highlights homes and gardens that have been featured in the magazine. Summer is the owner of Summer Media.

The authors will be available to answer questions about their publications, and they will have copies of their books on hand for purchase and for signing.

The Friends of the Newberry County Library System is the sponsor of this event.

A brief business meeting will precede the program.

A selection of used books will be for sale at $1 for hardbacks and .50 cents for paperbacks.

Light refreshments will be served.
