City honors workers

A host of Newberry police officers were honored by City Manager Jeff Shacker on Tuesday for their years of service with the department. Adrian Navarrete was honored for working with the city for five years but soon he will be moving to California. Navarrete is a corporal. Sgt. Andy Rowe was honored for 10 years of working for the department and he is a tactical trainer and loves to run races. Victims Advocate Niele Andrews was honored for 15 years of serving victims. She also writes grants and works with the department’s computer system. Lt. Michael Kennedy was also honored for 15y years of working with the department.He is also a fire arms trainer. Newberry City Manager Jeff Shacker, left, honors Brad Rikard for his 10 years of service with the city. Rikard works as a water and sewer crew leader with the utility department. He started working for the city on Nov. 11, 2002.
