NEWBERRY — On Jan. 4, Newberry Academy held its annual homecoming basketball games. Past alumni were invited back and honored with a hospitality room as the Eagles hosted the Knights of King Academy.
On Saturday, members of past Newberry Academy basketball teams participated in the alumni basketball games. A squad of former Newberry Academy cheerleaders assembled and cheered as the action took place on the court. The games included alumni from as early as the class of 1991 and as recent as the class of 2012.
Both of the middle school teams, girls and boys, won the games against King Academy. The girls middle school team defeated the Knights, 18-12 and the boys middle school team defeated the Knights, 41-24.
The girls varsity lost a close race, 32-25 but the boys varsity swept up a win over the Knights, 76-36.
The Academy also crowned a homecoming queen, Marie Ramsey, for the night.
