CHAPIN — The Chapin Chamber of Commerce will host “Shred out Heart Disease,” a free document shredding event to benefit the Chapin-based Moms for Heart Walk Team, on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 3–6 p.m., in the chamber parking lot, located at 302 Columbia Ave, Chapin.

By making a donation, participants can have their unwanted paper, CDs and credit cards shredded on-site by Carolina Records and Information Management.

All donations will benefit the American Heart Association and will be earmarked specifically for pediatric cardiovascular research.

The Federal Trade Commission suggests shredding expired credit cards, bank statements, insurance forms and copies of credit applications to protect your identity. Bring your personal documents to “Shred out Heart Disease” and watch as your documents are securely shredded on-site before being recycled.

According to the American Heart Association, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and in South Carolina. One in five Americans suffer from some form of cardiovascular disease; in our state, that number is one in four. Attend “Shred out Heart Disease” to not only get your spring cleaning started early but protect your identity and save a life.
