NEWBERRY — Joyce Hazel Pitts, 78, widow of Vernon Forrest Pitts, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on Oct. 18, 1934, in Joanna, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Genelle Bridges Hazel. She worked for Joanna Textile Mill and Damon International and attended Freedom Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pitts is survived by daughters, Carol (Sandy) Templeton of Gray Court, Ann Bundrick and Nell (Sammy) Martin both of Newberry; a sister, Jolene (Lavon) Mason of Joanna; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren, Mrs. Pitts was predeceased by a grandson and three brothers.

A private family service will be held. Memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, PO Box 1106, Newberry, SC 29108.
