Whitmire celebrates veterans

Veterans stand in the Whitmire gym as they are recognized for their service with special music from Whitmire Community School’s concert band. Each branch of the service was recognized in a song by students who helped to coordinate the program.

Whitmire Band Director and music teacher Robert Gunning leads the concert band in special military selections in recognition of Veterans Day on Nov. 12 at Whitmire Community School.

On Nov. 12, Whitmire Community School held their Veterans Day assembly. Ret. Col. Air National Guard and member of VFW Post No. 70 member Scott Cain gave an informative speech about his school experience as a youth when he attended a small community school like Whitmire Community as well as his experiences as a decorated combat pilot and a member of VFW Post No. 70.

At Whitmire’s Veterans Day program guest speaker Ret. Col. Scott Cain and the Whitmire cheerleaders lead the crowd in a energetic Wolverine to committed to success cheer at the program held at Whitmire Community School on Nov. 12.
