NEWBERRY — Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster is touting another successful operation. This time it is a different kind of law enforcement operation.

For many years, the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office has conducted Operation Santa Clause to help bring joy and hope to those less fortunate children throughout Newberry County. This year more than 200 children from across Newberry County received toys and more importantly saw that their community and their law enforcement officers truly care about them.

“As the economy has worsened, the need for services has increased,” said Foster. “Yet, every year the citizens and businesses of Newberry County are able to step up and make sure that those who need a helping hand can still get one.”

Foster said that special things like Operation Santa Clause are what make Newberry County so very special.

“It is the reliance of good people to rise to the needs of others time and time again that refresh your confidence in your fellow person,” said Foster. “In a negative world, there are still positives if you simply chose to look for them and to be a part of the solution.”

“The looks on the children’s faces are priceless,” Foster continued. “It is a great reminder for those who are so very blessed to appreciate what we do have rather than complaining about what we do not have.”

“We would like to thank everyone who supported and participated in this year’s operation,” said Foster. “We are truly working together to make Newberry County a better place through our partnership. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone and I pray it is a safe and wonderful holiday season.”
