Three teens were arrested last night and accused of wielding a knife and attempting to rob a man who then chased them.

The three were allegedly wearing dark clothing and carrying a knife when they demanded money from a man outside the Lil’ Cricket on Kendall Road around 9 p.m.

The victim refused to give the teens money, and began to chase them, according to Newberry Police Investigator Roy McClurkin.

A Lil’ Cricket clerk noticed the attempted robbery and called police.

Newberry police found the victim at College Park Apartments and the three suspects at Grant Homes.

The teens denied trying to rob the man, but the victim positively identified the three as suspects in the crime, according to McClurkin.

A 15-year-old, a 16-year-old and Cedrick Terrell Griffin, 18, of 2000 Lee St., Newberry, are all being charged with attempted armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

The 15- and 16-year-old will face charges in juvenile court.

We need to get our young men in the church. Word Church International located at 1406 Third Street is a church to get deliverance and guidance. Also, the young men do matter.
