Dear Editor,
Does anyone remember Baby Long?
I was born Aug. 2, 1963 at the Mills Clinic in Prosperity, South Carolina. I was given up for adoption and placed when I was one week old.
There was never foster care involved, just a simple, private, closed, sealed adoption. Dr. Mills delivered me and on my legal decree before I was given my legal name I was referred as Baby Long. Don’t know if that was my biological mother’s name or a fake name.
My adoptive parents used a lawyer by the name of Joe Sanders in Columbia, South Carolina to legalize the adoption. My adoption was finalized in the county of Lexington, even though I was born in the county of Newberry; don’t really understand that but that’s how it was.
I know very little and would like to hear from anyone who might know of something. I have been searching for years, and every corner I turn down has been a dead end. I am now 49 years old, and I know my biological mother and father have to be getting up there in age too.
I would love to know if I have any siblings out there that I don’t know about. I have had a wonderful life and am just curious about my adoption. I don’t know any medical history, so I have to be tested early on for everything. Every time I go to a doctor I have to put a big line through where it says medical history. So if any one out there knows of anything referring to a adoption on 8-2-1963, possibly a Baby Long, please contact me at alycesusan63@aol.com or Facebook me at Alyce Malin Baker.
Sincerely,
Alyce M. Baker
