LITTLE MOUNTAIN — Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Troop 61 of Little Mountain held their annual Court of Honor on Nov. 27. Each year, Troop 61 convenes a Court of Honor to award scouts who are advancing to the next rank and those who have earned merit badges and other awards. The scouts and their families enjoyed a covered dish supper prior to scoutmaster, Billy Lindler, welcoming everyone to the Court of Honor.

Assisting Lindler in awarding rank to 11 scouts, presenting 35 merit badges and the awards were assistant scoutmasters Kathy Morris, Chad Morris, Jeff Murray, Andy Senn, James Torrence and Jeff Waters. Troop 61 also had several scouts earn the BSA Kayaking, The National Outdoor Achievement in Aquatics and Camping, The Hometown U.S.A., The World Conservation, The Recruiter Stip and The Emergency Preparedness awards. The scouts were also recognized for having earned a total of 76 merit badges that were previously given since the last Court of Honor in November 2011. The Court of Honor concluded with a round of applause for all of the scouts’ hard work and the retirement of the colors.

Awards were given to the following scouts:

Austin Atkinson received The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award and was awarded the Star Rank.

Chandler Berry received the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge and was awarded the Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class Ranks.

Paul Carter received the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge and The BSA Recruiter Award and was awarded the Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class Ranks.

Xan Dickert received the Citizenship in the Nation and Family Life merit badges.

Eli Epting received the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge.

Charlie Grooms was awarded The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award.

Jake Longshore received the Automotive maintenance, citizenship in the world, hiking and scouting heritage merit badges, The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award and was awarded the Star Rank.

Brett Lindler was awarded The BSA National Outdoor Achievement Award for Camping, The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award and The BSA Recruiter Award.

JJ Melvin received the Communication merit badge was awarded The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award.

Michael Morris received the Citizenship in the World and Hiking merit badges and The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award and The BSA World Conservation Award.

Sam Morris received the Personal Fitness and Scouting Heritage merit badges and The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award and was awarded the Star Rank.

Mac Murray received the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge and was awarded the Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class Ranks.

Will Murray received the Citizenship in the Nation merit badge and was awarded the Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class Ranks.

Drew Senn received the Engineering, Family Life, Personal Management and Scouting Heritage merit badges, The BSA National Outdoor Achievement Award for Aquatics, The BSA Kayaking Award and The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award.

DJ Sims received the Art, Canoeing, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Hiking, Scouting Heritage and Sculpture merit badges, The BSA Kayaking Award, The BSA Hometown USA Award and The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award and was awarded the Star Rank.

Reed Studer received the Citizenship in the Nation and Hiking merit badges and was awarded the Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class Ranks.

Ryan Studer received the Citizenship in the World and Hiking merit badges and was awarded the Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class Ranks.

Andrew Waters received the Canoeing, chemistry, engineering, farm mechanics, fishing, forestry and sculpture merit badges, The BSA National Outdoor Achievement Award for Aquatics, The BSA Kayaking Award, The BSA Emergency Preparedness Award and was awarded his second Eagle Scout Silver Palm.
