PROSPERITY — Jacob Lee Amick, 82, of Prosperity died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Springfield Place.

Born on April 26,1930, in Prosperity, he was the son of the late Clinton and Elberta Lindler Amick.

Mr. Amick was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Owens Illinois and Georgia Pacific. He was a member of Wightman United Methodist Church and the Francis Asbury Sunday school class. Mr. Amick enjoyed being outdoors and especially loved fishing.

Mr. Amick is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Drs. Angelynne and Daniel McMullan of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Daniel Ryan McMullan and Laura Shealy McMullan, both of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Mae Miller of Newberry; brothers, David Amick of Newberry, Henry Amick, George Amick, Harvey Amick, and Charles Amick, all of Prosperity; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Faye Shealy Amick; and sisters, Mildred Longshore and Lucille Dominick.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 24, 2012, at Wightman United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m., Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.
