NEWBERRY — Work could start soon to give the shopping center at the intersection of Wilson Road and Main Street a new look.
The City of Newberry building officials have issued a permit for facade renovation at the shopping center.
The permits were put on hold for a small duration due to the city requiring an engineering stamp on the proposed work.
Newberry City Manager Jeff Shacker said the work will include a series of arches similar to the ones on the Lowes building.
The work will also include the metal on the front of the building being stuccoed over.
Contractors should begin on the work in the next week or so, said Shacker.
The facility is proposed to house shops running the length of Wilson Road and a movie and bowling complex on the side where the old Ritz Theater is.
