NEWBERRY — The City of Newberry is working on an agreement to help bring a new store to the area.
Newberry City Council has agreed to allow Kendall Road NB to tap on to the city water line to build a new Family Dollar store.
The store will be located at 726 Kendall Road near the now closed Food Lion and the intersection with Pope Street. The store is in the Helena community.
The property is just outside the city limits but is adjacent to city water lines and will not require any work beyond putting in a standard tap.
While the city leaders have agreed to put in the water tap, the company has agreed to be annexed into the city if the property becomes contiguous to the city limits and the council determines it is in the best interest of the city to annex the property.
The new store is currently under construction.
This will be the second Family Dollar in Newberry with the another new store that opened earlier this year on Wilson Road.
