NEWBERRY — Newberry will travel to play Pageland to take on Central Friday night.

This is the first time the two teams have met.

The Bulldogs will have their work cut out for them as the Eagles of Central are 9-2 on the year.

Central gained a bye in the first round on the playoffs and defeated Keenan by a score of 35-6 last week.

The Bulldogs of Newberry have defeated Indian Land and Columbia and have a 9-3 record.

“They have a good team and a good program,” said Newberry head coach Phil Strickland, adding the team has a lot of tradition.

Strickland added the team would rather run the ball but will also pass the ball too.

A positive is that all of the Bulldogs are pretty healthy going into the game.

Strickland says he hopes the fans will once again turn out to support the Bulldogs.

The winner will play the winner of the Fairfield-Central and Cheraw game on Nov. 23.
