NEWBERRY — Professor Gregory Cole, a Spanish professor at Newberry College, volunteers his time and that of his willing students to help students at the Newberry Adult Education program who have limited English language skills.

Adult Education Director David Green, says Cole has given of his time and knowledge for the last 10 years and that his English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) teachers and students are appreciative of and indebted to Cole and his students for volunteer his time and efforts to help adult education students become efficient in the English language. The interaction among students enhances their skills of a new language. This collaboration is beneficial to both his students and those students of Cole and has proven to be a win-win situation for students at both schools.

Adult education students are appreciative of and enjoy their conversations with Newberry College students. They discover that they have a lot in common because of some of the places they have lived such as California and Georgia. They share their customs and traditions from their various cultures in India, Mexico and Guatemala and have discovered mutual interests such as soccer.

Anyone needing help with the English language may call Newberry Adult Education at 321-2112 for further information.
