MC gets second in Upper State

SPARTANBURG — The Mid-Carolina cheer leading team finished second in the Upper State competition held on Wednesday.

The team once again finished behind Liberty in the event held at Dorman High.

The Mid-Carolina cheer team qualified for the state competition on Nov. 17 at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville.

The team has 10 seniors, nine juniors, two sophomores, two freshmen, and one seventh grader.

Competition for the girls began on Oct. 1 when the team came in second at the Wolverine Cheer Classic.

On Oct. 6 the Rebels garnered first place at the Lexington Wildcat Cheer Classic.

Then on Oct. 17 they came in first again at the Viking Cheer Challenge.

In the same week on Oct. 20 they got another first place win at the Forest Acres Cup.

The following Saturday on Oct. 27 the Rebels cheer team was first at the Lake Murray Invitational.

Coach Sherry Bedenbaugh says she believes her team has the talent and routine she believes to win the state championship.
