LAURENS — The Clinton-Laurens-Newberry Tennis Association held its first annual Mac Harrison CLNTA Round Robin Memorial Youth Fundraiser on Oct. 13 at Laurens City Park.

Twenty players participated in this youth fundraiser.

The winner of the Women’s Division was Lynn Weirick (Laurens), who received a tan USTA SC windbreaker.

In the Men’s Division, there was a tie for first place with two undefeated players. Following the tiebreaker procedures, Hugh Lister (Newberry) was the winner and Harry Sullivan (Kinards) was the runner-up. Lister selected the yellow USTA SC windbreaker, and Sullivan chose the red, long-sleeved USTA SC pullover.

This fundraiser was in memory of tennis enthusiast Mac Harrison who died this past summer. He was a mentor to the kids in the community and his church. These funds will go towards the youth in the youth tennis camps to be held next year.

This benefit Round Robin generated $1,355. CLNTA would like to thank all of you who donated to this cause.

The CLNTA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging the participation of both youth and adults in tennis activities in Laurens and Newberry counties.
