Wolves men finish eighth, women 10th

GREENVILLE, TENN. — The Newberry College cross country teams closed out their season at the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships, with the men’s team finishing eighth and the women’s team finishing 10th at Tusculum College.

Women’S 5k

Senior Jessie Baldwin earned Newberry’s first-ever women’s cross country all-SAC honor with a seventh place finish with a time of 20:27.5 for first team all-conference honors. The all-SAC honor is the first at Newberry from either gender since 2001.

Rebecca Eddy was 49th in the race at 22:50.3, Ariel Strong was 68th at 24:46.7, Kelley Strong was 75th at 25:47.3, Diana Terrell was 80th at 26:54.3 and Hannah Rohrer was 81st at 27:01.1

Men’s 8k

Nathan Collier finished in 17th place with a time of 28:02.4 to lead the Wolves to eighth place. Michael Waltrip was 32nd with a time of 28:41.7, Peter Hackett was 50th at 29:34.0, Alex Holshoe was 54th at 30:03.6, Austin Sorensen was 64th at 30:53.6, and Termaine Harvey was 67th at 31:06.7.
