Lepaio, Lewis named preseason All-SAC First Team

ROCK HILL — Newberry College sophomore Haylee Lepaio and senior Neicey Lewis have been named to the 2012-13 preseason All-South Atlantic Conference First Team, making the Wolves the only team to place multiple players on the preseason All-SAC First Team.

On the first team is 2011-12 SAC Freshman of the Year Haylee Lepaio (Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia), who was also selected to the All-SAC Second Team, SAC All-Freshman team and was a DAKTRONIC’S All-Southeast Region Second Team selection a year ago. Lepaio averaged 15.9 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game, while recording 13 double-doubles as a freshman. Lepaio finished the season in the top 100 nationally in points per game, blocked shots per game, rebounds per game and double-doubles.

Lewis (Riverdale, Ga.) finished the 2011-12 season averaging 13 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game. The guard was a constant threat on the defensive end of the court averaging 2.25 steals per game.

The duo will lead a Newberry squad which was predicted to finish third in the conference this season. The Wolves first action will come Nov. 10, at Wingate when the Wolves meet UNC Pembroke in the first game of the OrthoCarolina Classic. Newberry plays its first home game on Nov. 20 against Morris at 6 p.m.
