NEWBERRY — Nice weather is in the forecast and there is lots to do around Newberry this weekend.

The weekend will kick off with the pink out at the Newberry High and Ninety Six football game as the players, coaches, cheerleaders and fans alike pay homage to breast cancer awareness.

Also the Mid-Carolina Rebels will host Batesburg-Leesville at home.

Both games start at 7:30 p.m.

After dark on Friday night there will be a fire works display on the Newberry College campus. The 9 p.m. event is open to all.

Saturday will be a busy day around town and start early with the Fourth Annual Newberry College Homecoming 5K Run/Walk. The race will go down College, Main, Glenn and Evans streets.

At 11 p.m. a host of emergency personnel will roll down Main Street for the fire prevention parade. After the parade there will be games, a coloring contest display and demonstrations on the square.

And get ready for the second parade of the day at 2 p.m. as the homecoming parade travels from Lindsay Furniture on College Street to the main entrance of the college.

The college is also hosting numerous activities for the homecoming weekend but the main attraction will be the football game that starts at 4 p.m.
