Newberry — Greenville native and well-known alternative rock singer-songwriter Edwin McCain is returning to Newberry this year. McCain always gives a wonderful performance and audiences are in for an extraordinary night at the Newberry Opera House on Friday at 8 p.m. Nothing compares to the joy of a singer/songwriter who loves making and writing hits.

Now equipped with his own band known as the Edwin McCain Band and new album Mercy Bound this marks two decades for McCain since he first entered a studio. Having toured with long time friends Hootie and The Blowfish McCain is here with his beautiful lyrics to make you experience that loving feeling you felt when you first heard “3 a.m.” or “I’ll Be.”

McCain, known for his personal and honest lyrics, writes most of his roots-based material on acoustic guitar, but the influences of his band contribute elements of funk, jazz, and blues to the overall sound. A mix of acoustic ballads and infectious rock numbers are his formula for an illuminous and electrifying show, which will surly leave you wanting more.

Tickets are available at the Newberry Opera House box office. For reservations call 276-6264 or visit our website www.newberryoperahouse.com
