WHITMIRE — On Friday night, Whitmire hosted Ware Shoals, and the Wolverines season-long struggles continued as Ware Shoals won 57–0.
Despite the lopsided score, the Wolverines continued to fight into the second half.
The Whitmire defense stiffened in the second half, slowing Ware Shoals and limiting their scoring opportunities.
The Wolverine offense again showed the ability to move the ball, but inconsistencies and mental miscues ended drives as much as their opponents’ defense.
The home crowd remained supportive and the Pearl of the Piedmont continues to shine.
Friday night football in Whitmire is not only a chance for athletes to compete, but also a chance for the community to gather and enjoy the early-fall cooler temperatures.
This home game was also youth night, and local recreation football teams were recognized at halftime.
The crowd was also treated with cheers from the large group of youngsters that recently attended the Whitmire Cheerleading Camp.
The Wolverines football team takes to the road for the next few weeks, starting with a trip to Calhoun Falls Charter School this week.
