ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA. - The Newberry College men’s golf team finished the Jay Jennison Memorial in a tie for fourth place after a tough second day at the Palencia Club. Newberry and Saint Leo shot +47 (911) for the tournament.
The Wolves struggled Tuesday, though senior Chandler Gruenemeier (Jacksonville, Fla.) rebounded from a rough second round with a 1-over par 73 to finish tied for 10th at 8-over par 224. Jon Weiss (Sumter) also tied for 19th at 8-over.
Tommy Hurst (Miami, Fla.) was 29th with a 17-over par 233 for the tournament, while Ewen Donaldson (Edinburgh, Scotland) tied for 35th at 19-over par 235 and Layton Truax (Savannah, Ga.) tied for 38th at 20-over par 236 for the event.
Armstrong Atlantic won the event at 19-over par 883. Barry was in second at 887 and Coker was third at 905.
The Wolves wrap up the fall portion of their schedule Monday and Tuesday at Lenoir-Rhyne’s Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the Sea Trail Golf Resort in Sunset Beach, N.C.
