Former Newberry College former standout Josh Stepp will speak at Monday’s Newberry County Touchdown Club meeting.
Stepp is currently the head football coach at Dreher High School after stints at Pelion, Blythwood, and Spring Valley High Schools where he has coached and taught physical education at each stop.
Stepp graduated cum laude from Newberry College in 2007, with a B.S. degree in physical education, and earned his Master’s Degree in education in 2010.
He was a three year starter and captain at Newberry College after transferring from Furman University. He is married to the former Caryn McSwain and they have a daughter named Rilee.
Stepp’s NC accolades includes 2005 Second Team All-SAC; 2006 All-State Team; 2006 First Team All-SAC; 2006 SAC Offensive Player of the Year; 2006 D2 Football.com All-Southeast Region; 2006 Harlon Hill Award Regional Finalist.
Stepp’s NC Career Records: 2, 100-plus rushing games as QB; Career leader in passing yardage (7,398), completions (583), attempts (975) and TDs (72); Career leader in total yardage (8,570 yards); Holds a top 10 season for each of his three years at Newberry in all four categories: Leader in yardage (2,829 in 2004), completions (213 in 2004), attempts (364 in 2004) and touchdowns (28 in 2006); Has six of top 10 yardage in single game; 13 games of over 250 yards passing; Holds three of top five seasons for total yardage, including school record 3,213 in 2004.
The touchdown club meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Newberry Community Hall.
Individual memberships are $75 which includes $35 for meals.
Also meals are available at the door for $12 each.
Business memberships are $125 and includes two meals to the Nov. 19 meeting. Advanced tickets can be purchased for $25, which includes four catered meals.
