A person was reportedly held-up while making a bank deposit in Newberry on Sunday.

Around 4 p.m. Sunday a person reported they were making a deposit for a business at the Well Fargo night deposit box on Boyce Street in downtown Newberry when they were robbed, according to Newberry Police Captain Kevin Atkins.

A suspect used a weapon to rob the person, said Atkins.

The person of interest in the case was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money, according to Atkins.

Investigators with the Newberry Police Department are anticipating having warrants issued in the near future.

Atkins reminds businesses that officers are willing to provide an escort from the businesses in the city to banks for employees making deposits.

The case is still under investigation and anyone with information or that may have witnesses about the armed robbery is asked to call Newberry police at 321-1010.
