Republican presidential candidate has chosen Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan as his vice-presidential running mate.
The announcement was made Friday evening although Romney knew who he would pick at the beginning of this month.
Ryan, 42, is a Republican representative for Wisconsin’s first district and is known for being the chairman of the House budget committee was well as saying that he wants to overhaul Medicare.
Ryan has been a huge proponent of wanting to repeal President Barack Obama’s heath care law as well as cut federal spending and reduce the federal deficit over the next decade.
“It’s about turning our system that has become a dependent culture into an upward mobile society, getting people back onto lives of self-sufficiency,” said Ryan.
S.C. Republican Party Chairman Chad Connelly, from Prosperity, had this to say about Romney’s choice for vice-president, “South Carolina Republicans are thrilled with the Romney-Ryan ticket to restore America. Paul Ryan’s energy, ideas, and detailed knowledge of the federal budget are the perfect background for taking on Barack Obama’s failed policies on jobs and the economy. Paul Ryan will make America proud as the next vice-president. Together, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan will put America back on a path to prosperity as they work to grow jobs, lower the debt, and restore America’s promise.”
