Man gets 10 in Lil’ Cricket robbery

A Newberry man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for robbing the Lil’ Cricket on Kendall Road in January.

Curtis Lewis Pratt, 59, of 105 Green Acres Court, Newberry, pleaded guilty last week in general sessions court to armed robbery and second degree burglary and was sentenced to 10 yeas in prison.

On Jan. 21, Curtis Pratt broke into the Village Pawn Shop located at 2048 Bear Village Court, Newberry, Pratt was identified by video surveillance, according to Eighth Circuit Solicitor Jerry Peace.

Then on Jan. 28 Pratt went to the Lil’ Cricket at 1315 Kendall Road and asked the cashier for the money in the drawer.

“Pratt did this while portraying to the cashier that he was in fact armed with a pistol, ” said Peace. “Pratt was identified in this incident by video surveillance and was arrested a short time later when Newberry Police found him at a location near to the store.”
