The work to waterproof the Newberry County Courthouse has hit a snag and now is being rebid.
County council got a report last week that the bids to do the waterproofing work that included new roofing came in way over budget.
To help bring down cost, the county leaders have decided to rebid the project.
The high bids included both the waterproofing work and the roof work which had to be bid together.
That increased the cost due the contractor having to subcontract the roof work.
Now the project will be bid in two parts, with one for the roof and one for the other work.
Also, the contractors are being warned that they will have to work around court schedules.
The work includes new drain lines, a new roof, new sidewalks and other items.
