After record highs, the area is expected to cool off this week.

Today will still be in the mid to upper 90s but Newberry County could see storms this afternoon.

For the rest of the week the forecast is for temperatures in the 80s and the possibility of a 15 degree drop in temperatures by the end of the week.

Expect lows around 70 and highs around 87 degrees.

The area can also expect to see some much needed rain with weather forecasters calling for between a 40 and 50 percent chance of rain much of the week.

By Sunday temps should reach the 90 degree mark again but thunderstorms remain in the forecast.
