Paint smears and sketches everywhere can only mean one thing.

Art camp is definitely in session.

Mid-Carolina High Art Teacher Debbie Murphy taught a couple of different camps at Prosperity’s Civic Center this month.

The first week incorporated children ages 4 to 14 while the second camp was for older, middle school people.

Murphy brought enthusiasm as well as plenty of art instruction to the young adults who came eager to tackle art projects.

She also brought along a couple of her prized art students from the high school to assist the children.

The purpose of the art camp was to teach drawing and painting basics; however, instead of just painting on canvases, the campers also made masks, decoupage boxes and worked with acrylics.

They also had fun with bubbles by blowing bubbles to look at the iridescent colors in the sun. The colors from the bubbles served as an inspiration.

There were first-timers as well as returning campers who took art to the heart for a colorful, good time.
