A home was destroyed on Maybinton Road over the weekend.
Early Saturday morning the St. Philips, Pomaria and Consolidated fire departments and Newberry County Rescue Squad were called to a house fire on Maybinton Road near Quarters Road.
The 3:30 a.m. blaze destroyed the home and crews were on the scene until after 7 a.m.
On Saturday afternoon the St. Philips Fire Department was called to a field fire on Piester Road off S.C. Highway 34.
When they arrived on the scene a golf cart was on fire along with a small portion of the field.
There were no injuries in either fire.
The two fires were not related.
