Newberry College rising junior B.J. Young (Jackson, N.J.) was selected to wrestle in Sunday’s Adam Frey Classic at Lehigh University as the full lineup was finalized earlier this week.

Young, a two-time NCAA Division II runner-up in two seasons, is the only Division II wrestler participating in the event. The Adam Frey Classic is an annual event held in the memory of Adam Frey which pits college and post-graduate wrestling all-stars up against each other in a dual meet format.

All proceeds benefit the Adam Frey Foundation, an organization started by Adam Frey which was established to provide for the needs of cancer patients beyond research or medical care. Frey was a Cornell University wrestler who was diagnosed with cancer after the 2008 NCAA Division I Tournament. After a nearly two-year battle, Frey passed away on December 26, 2009, at age 23.

The Classic has been modeled in Adam’s vision to not only be a event to see great athletes compete, but also be a festive atmosphere to celebrate Adam’s life and the friendships wrestling has brought to all of us.
