The Newberry County 4-H shotgun team ended their season with 12 of their shooters competing in the 2012 U.S. Open Sporting Clays event held in Georgetown at Backwoods Quail Club.
The event was held June 14-16 and started with a preliminary round and ended with the main event. Shooters from around the country joined together throughout the weekend.
Shooters enjoyed many activities and opportunities including games, swimming, door prizes, awards, a seafood banquet and a trick shooting show and autographs from the well-known trick shooter Scott Robertson of Berretta Firearms.
Team Newberry was comprised of four three-member squads and they all shot in every round, placing in the top 10.
The team would like to thank Rick Hemminway and the staff of the quail club and look froward to returning next year. They would also like to thank their families, all eight coaches and Alana West for her guidance and support throughout the 4-H.
