Two young sisters who both display sweet exuberance are the winners of the Cutest Kids contest.
Olivia Martin garnered 2,016 votes when the contest closed at midnight on Sunday. She is two-years-old and was entered by her mother, Eli Martin, in the two to three age category.
Eli also entered her oldest daughter, Isabel Martin, in the four to five age category. Isabel, 4, won that category and garnered 2,013 coming in on the tail of her sister.
Eli said she would jump onto The Observer’s website and see that sometimes one sister would be ahead one day and the other another day.
Olivia and Isabel’s mother sent out plenty of emails, she says and just told her family and friends to vote for her two sweet daughters.
Eli took Olivia’s picture when she wanted to hold her newborn cousin, Forrest one day.
She says she was very lucky to capture that moment and decided that would be the picture to enter.
Eli describes Olivia as “very outgoing (with) no fear right now.”
She knows that Olivia will be quite excited.
As for Isabel, Eli describes her older daughter as quite the mothering type. The picture that she captured and put on the website is actually of Isabel playing with her baby doll and taking care of it in her playhouse.
“That’s the moment I see in her in that picture,” says Eli.
While she’s quieter, she still has plenty of energy, Eli points out.
Parents, family or friends could submit pictures starting May 13 and voting started June 3. Submissions and voting both ended this past Sunday. There were 37 entries of children ranging from newborn to elementary school age children.
Who ever garnered the most votes overall was the overall winner and whoever garnered the most points in a category was the category winner.
The contest was sponsored by Shear Genius hair salon and Partyz Unlimited.
Keep an eye out for more contests hosted by The Newberry Observer where you may just be the next winner.
