Absentee voting is now underway for the June 12 primary.
In Newberry County the only race on the Democratic ticket will be the U.S. District three race where Bryan Ryan Doyle is taking on Cason Gaither. The winner will take on Congressman Jeff Duncan in November.
On the Republican primary side there are races for state senate, solicitor and county council district one.
For state senate incumbent Ronnie Cromer is challenged by Alan Hunter, Kara Gormley Meador and Richard Bolens. The winner will take the seat.
In the solicitor race incumbent Jerry Peace will take on David Strumbo with the winner taking on Democrat Robert Tinsley in November.
In county county district one Republican challenger Scott Cain is taking on incumbent Edgar Baker. The one with the most votes will face Tim Carroll in the fall.
To vote absentee a person will need their identification card or a voter registration card and meet the reasons for voting absentee.
