The Wellness Center’s registered nurse, Janie Benckert, illustrates good and bad cholesterol at the Girls and Pearls night out Thursday sponsored by Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Benckert was there to explain diabetic risk factors, blood pressure as well as a healthy diet and exercise program.

Pharmacist Candace Frick talks about teens and drug addiction at the Girls and Pearls Thursday night. Frick was one of the many speakers at the women’s health event sponsored by the Newberry hospital. Frick talked about how the misuse of hand sanitizer, Oxycontin, bath salts and over the counter drug misuse. Women could go to the lectures they chose and Frick also answered any questions that people may have about teen drug addiction.

Kristen Goodwin, a nurse practitioner, speaks about vitamin D deficiency in women, especially in menopausal women Thursday night at the Girls and Pearls women’s health event. Goodwin encouraged women to have a vitamin D check which is a blood test.

Newberry County Memorial Hospital Registered Nurse Kathy Stroud talks to women Thursday about the importance of taking care of themselves and their health. Stroud told the women to make sure they take care of themselves and to learn to love themselves. She said that it’s okay to take 30 minutes and go outside and not to go to bed with make up on along with other fun tidbits.
