M-C Middle basketball travels to Newberry tonight
A splash of winter weather wreaked havoc on the athletic schedules around the county yesterday.
All of the prep athletic events scheduled for yesterday were postponed after snow early Tuesday morning forced the cancellation of school.
The Mid-Carolina boys and girls basketball teams were scheduled to play Gilbert yesterday, but those games have been moved to next Tuesday. The boys’ game will take place in Prosperity, while the girls will face the Indians in Gilbert. Both games are slated for 7:30 p.m. starts.
The Newberry High boys and girls teams were slated to face Batesburg-Leesville in a key Region III-2A contests, while Whitmire was set to host Greenville Tech.
Newberry Academy was to face King Academy at home.
Whitmire, Newberry and Newberry Academy have not announced the makeup date as of press time.
For tonight
The Mid-Carolina Middle Schools girls and boys’ basketball teams will travel to in-county rival Newberry Middle tonight.
The girls’ game is slated for a 5 p.m. start, followed by the boys.
The Mid-Carolina High wrestling team will host Gilbert and Ware Shoals in a tri-meet, scheduled for 6 p.m., while Newberry and Whitmire will travel to Ninety Six for a 7 p.m. tri-meet.
