Residents could see a white winter wonderland by tomorrow morning. Cautions and predictions are travelling the airwaves of emergency responder radios and network weather forecasts this morning that the area could experience snowfall by this time tomorrow.
Weather predictions are outlining a possibility of snow from 3 a.m. tomorrow until 3 p.m.
National Weather Service forecasters say a low pressure area developed along a cold front this morning over Mississippi and Alabama. The weather system is expected to move eastward and across the southern portion of South Carolina late tonight, reaching the coast shortly before dawn tomorrow.
With the cold air and temperatures in the lower 30s, rain is expected to begin the precipitation, then mix with and change to snow. The snow would continue until early tomorrow afternoon and temperatures are expected to rise to the mid-30s and just above freezing during the day.
The system is predicted to move out of the area with little snow accumulation.
But the weather could cause slippery roads and travel difficulties.
Fog combined with a light mist left roadways, bridges and other areas slick during this morning’s commute. A few minor wrecks have been reported this morning due to vehicles slipping on ice.
