The Newberry College men's golf team is ranked 19th nationally in the GolfWord/NIKE Division II Coaches' Poll, which will be published in the October 3 issue of the magazine.

Newberry drops three spots from its No. 16 preseason ranking despite an impressive performance at this week's Sandestin Collegiate Championship, where the Wolves finished second, just two strokes behind No. 3 Lynn. The poll voting concluded on Thursday, September 22, before the Sandestin event. Sophomore Ben Firebaugh (Norfolk, Va.) finished second individually in the tournament.

Newberry is also ranked 27th in the GolfStat head-to-head rankings.

The Wolves' next action comes at the AFLAC/Cougar Invitational in Columbus, Ga., where Newberry will face off against No. 3 Lynn, No. 4 Barry, No. 8 North Alabama, No. 13 Columbus State, No. 14 Georgia College, No. 20 Florida Southern, No. 21 Flagler and No. 24 Georgia Southwestern State.
