The Newberry High School boys' basketball team evened the score with Airport with a 46-37 victory Tuesday at home.
The Bulldogs trailed 21-14 at the half, but clawed their way back courtesy of a bigger lineup that controlled the paint and the backboards.
Newberry scored 19 points in the fourth quarter alone, while the Eagles managed just 16 for the entire second half.
J.J. Suber led the ‘Dogs with 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Jeremy Williams chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds.
Kerry Workman pitched in 11 points.
Newberry will travel to Chapin tonight for a 7:30 p.m. game.
Scores were not reported from Wednesday's game at Great Falls.
Rebels sink EHS, 78-67
The Mid-Carolina boys' basketball team improved its record to 5-2 on the young season by knocking off Emerald 78-67 Wednesday at home.
The win capped off a stretch of six games in 11 days.
Calvin Herbert had a huge game for the Rebels with 23 points and 11 rebound.
Tevins Walker had his most productive game of the season with 11 points, while C.J. Edwards added 14. Mac Lake scored nine, while Krishawn Holley poured in eight.
Lake, Holley and Hubert Wicker combined for 14 steals in the win.
The Rebels will be off tonight, but will compete in Screven County (Ga.) Christmas Tournament this weekend.
NA, WHITMIRE in action tonight on the road
The Whitmire girls' and boys' basketball teams will open Region II-A play tonight when they travel to Blacksburg. Game time for the girls' game in 6:30 p.m., while the boys' are slated for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
Newberry Academy will travel to Spartanburg Christian for a girls-boys doubleheader.
Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
