The Newberry College football team will try to get back in the hunt for a South Atlantic Conference championship tomorrow when it hosts undefeated Wingate. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Setlzer Field.

Newberry (3-3 overall, 2-1 SAC) opened the conference slate with huge home wins against Carson-Newman and Catawba but wasknocked off last week at Mars Hill.

Newberry's offense struggled mightily at times in a 27-6 upset at the Lions.

Wingate (7-0, 3-0) is off to the best start in school history. The Bulldogs opened up SAC play with a big home win against Tusculum and knocked off Lenoir-Rhyne 35-27 last week.

Wingate's mettle will be tested the next three weeks as it challenges Catawba and Carson-Newman after tomorrow's game against Newberry. Newberry fell out of the American Football Coaches' Association poll this week, while Wingate currently sits at No. 15.
