James Bernard Darby, 22, with a last known address of 561 Green Meadow Drive, Newberry, turned himself in Monday on charges of conspiracy.
Sheriff Lee Foster said Darby had a gun at a fight Oct. 7 in Helena, but did not shoot it.
“Since he was there uninvited, participated in the fight and assisted in the fleeing (Darby was charged),“ said Foster.
Stantavian Dvay Williams, 19, also known as “Little Dirty,“ of 455 Brown Chapel Drive, Newberry, turned himself in last Wednesday in connection with the shooting in Helena. He was charged with assault and battery with intent to kill.
Around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 7, the suspects allegedly went to Sycamore Drive in Helena and began to argue with two people. Foster says Williams and Darby pulled out handguns and Williams began to fire a number of rounds into the ground, and at the crowd that had gathered.
Two people were shot, receiving non-life threatening injuries.
