Deputies are looking for Stantavian Dvay Williams, 19, also known as “Little Dirty,” of 455 Brown Chapel Drive, Newberry, and James Bernard Darby Jr., 22, of 661 Green Meadow Drive, Newberry, on warrants of assault and battery with intent to kill.
Two people were shot in the legs and have non-life threatening wounds, Sheriff Lee Foster said this morning. The two were taken by friends to Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Deputies responded around 9:30 last night to shots being fired on Sycamore Drive.
“Investigation and witness statements revealed that two individuals had come into the neighborhood and began to argue with the two victims,” describes Foster. “Two subjects pulled out handguns and began to fire a yet-to-be-determined number of rounds into the ground and at the crowd that had gathered.”
The names of the victims are being withheld by the Sheriff's Office until the suspects are captured.
Officers also believe that this morning's shooting may be related to another one that occurred last Wednesday night at Nance Forest.
The person shot at Nance Forest also suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Newberry Police have warrants out for the arrest of Jared Darnell Singley, 27, of Newberry in that shooting.
Singley is charged with exiting a car and shooting someone at Nance Forest.
Police believe Darby may have been in the vehicle with Singley at the time.
Anyone with information on either shooting, or on the whereabouts of the three suspects, is asked to call officers at 321-2222.
“Any help from the public is greatly appreciated...they are to be considered armed and dangerous,” added Foster.
