PEAK - Mr. Wendell Young, 71, of 499 Church St., Peak, died Thursday at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital. Born in Pomaria, he was the son of the late Willie “Buddy” Young and the late Fannie Wicker Young.
He was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church and the Sons of Aid Society. He was a retired truck driver.
Surviving are one daughter, Wendy Blair of Columbia; one brother, Archie Lee Young of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Dorothy Chapman of Pomaria and Mary Gorie of Cleveland, Ohio; sister-in-law, Bessie Mae Young of Newberry; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services and burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008 at St. James A.M.E. Church in Pomaria. Viewing at the church will begin one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Newberry.
