Candidates in for city council election: Senn, Hiller to face off for District 2 seat

Three incumbents and one write-in candidate have filed to represent districts 2, 4 and 6 in the Newberry City Council.

Incumbents Gregg Summer and David DuBose were uncontested and have been declared elected over districts 4 and 6 respectively, says Tina Wicker, human resource director for the city.

The Sept. 9 election ballot will only list incumbent Foster Senn for District 2. Wayne Hiller filed for the District 2 seat as a write-in candidate.The city council seats and mayorship last 4-year terms. District seats 2, 4 and 6 opened for re-election this year. Seats 1, 3, 5 and the mayorship open for re-election in 2010.
